Trauma & PTSD Therapy

Carrying the weight of a difficult experience can shape how you move through the world long after the experience itself has ended. Whether it's a single event or something that unfolded over time, trauma has a way of keeping us stuck long after the mind has tried to move on. If you're noticing flashbacks, a constant sense of being on guard, avoidance, or a general feeling of not being quite yourself since something happened to you, you don't have to carry that alone.

How we work with trauma

Our clinicians use prolonged exposure therapy (PE), an evidence-based approach for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Rather than avoiding the memories and situations that feel overwhelming, prolonged exposure therapy works gradually and at a pace you help set, giving you the chance to process what happened in a way that feels manageable rather than retraumatizing. Over time, many people find the memories lose some of their intensity, and the world starts to feel safer to move through again.

Who this is for

  • A specific traumatic event, whether recent or long past

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Ongoing anxiety, hypervigilance, or avoidance connected to a difficult experience

In-person and virtual sessions

We see clients in person at our Aurora office and virtually across Ontario, so trauma therapy is available whether you're in Aurora, Newmarket, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Markham, or anywhere else in the province. Evening and weekend appointments are available with select clinicians.

Therapy is billed on a sliding scale with select practitioners—see our Fees page for details, or check our FAQs if you're wondering about insurance and coverage.
